The daily dose is two capsules: 400 mg of berberis root extract (Berberis aristata), 200 mg of R-alpha-lipoic acid and 100 mg of myo-inositol. Per capsule that is 200 mg, 100 mg and 50 mg respectively.

One capsule twice a day, before meals. The manufacturer's recommended period is 3 months (12 weeks) of daily use, then a 2-week break; the cycle may be repeated. The 60-capsule pack covers 30 days, so a full 12-week cycle is three packs.

Berberine is markedly bitter. In a tablet you taste it; a capsule closes it in and goes down without a taste. That is why the maker changed the form — the ingredients and the doses are unchanged.

Lipoic acid exists in two mirror-image forms. Only the R form occurs in nature. Many supplements use a synthetic 50/50 mix of both; here the daily dose is 200 mg of the R form.

Barberry (Berberis aristata) is the plant; berberine is the yellow alkaloid in its root. The label here says "barberry root extract", 400 mg in the daily dose, and that is not the same as "berberine HCl", where the amount of the alkaloid itself is stated. It is called "vitamin B8" out of old habit, but under EU law it is not a vitamin: it is absent from the list in Directive 2002/46/EC and has no established nutrient reference value. Those exist only for vitamins and minerals — which is why no percentage can be printed for inositol.
