Magnesium Bisglycinate

Magnesium Bisglycinate · Magnesium bound to the amino acid glycine (chelated form)

Magnesium contributes to normal nervous system and muscle function. The bisglycinate form is chosen as gentler on the stomach than the oxide.

What it does in your body

Magnesium participates in over 300 biochemical reactions in the body.

The bisglycinate form = magnesium bound to two glycine molecules (an amino acid).

Glycine has a calming action on its own, and the bisglycinate form is gentle on the stomach.

Natural source:

Magnesium is a mineral found in green leafy vegetables, seeds, nuts and legumes. The modern diet delivers it in insufficient amounts, 70% of Europeans are below the recommended intake. The bisglycinate form is bound to the amino acid glycine, the most bioavailable form for the brain.

Why magnesium bisglycinate is in Corti-Glow

Why this ingredient specifically, not an alternative.

Most people don't get enough magnesium from food, insufficient intake leads to difficulty falling asleep, cramps and tension.

The bisglycinate form does not loosen the stomach like oxide or citrate.

The glycine (from the bisglycinate) supports the GABA system, the same mechanism that calms the brain in the evening.

How it works on the body

Mechanism, step by step.

1

Relaxes the muscles

Magnesium regulates calcium channels. Without it, muscles “hold” too much calcium, which is where cramps come from.

2

Supports GABA receptors

GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid) is the calm neurotransmitter in the brain. Magnesium increases its sensitivity, the brain relaxes.

3

Regulates melatonin

Magnesium participates in the conversion of serotonin into melatonin, the sleep hormone. Without enough magnesium, melatonin is not produced optimally.

4

Supports the nervous system

Magnesium contributes to normal nervous system function and to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue — authorized health claims (EFSA).

What to expect

Realistic timeframes, not promises.

First evening

Easier falling asleep. The muscles relax.

First week

Fewer night wake-ups. Fewer muscle cramps.

2–3 weeks

More stable mood. Less nervous tension.

1 month

Sounder and more regular sleep. Fewer headaches.

How it works with the other ingredients

7 ingredients. Each pair with a specific mechanism.

Not random supplements in one box. Every combination has a biological reason.

Combination

Magnesium + L-Theanine

For calm focus without drowsiness

See L-Theanine

Mechanism

The two travel together in the evening dose: 200 mg of L-theanine and 670 mg of magnesium bisglycinate. Magnesium contributes to normal nervous system function.

End benefit

A double calming effect, physical (muscle relaxation from magnesium) and mental (calm mind from L-Theanine).

Why this exact dose in Corti-Glow

670 mg, specific, not random.

  • 670 mg of magnesium bisglycinate provides 134 mg of elemental magnesium (36.53% of the RDI).
  • Clinical sleep trials use 300–500 mg of elemental magnesium. This dose sits at the lower end, suitable for daily evening intake.
  • The bisglycinate form was chosen for the best absorption and minimal side effects.

Frequently asked questions

About magnesium bisglycinate.

Why 670 mg, isn't that a lot?+
670 mg is the weight of the whole compound (magnesium + 2 glycines). The elemental magnesium inside is 134 mg, 36.53% of the daily reference intake. You can't fit that much into a capsule, bisglycinate is bulky.
Does it loosen the stomach?+
Very rarely. The bisglycinate form is the gentlest on the stomach. If you feel mild discomfort the first days, cut down to half a sachet and gradually increase.
Can I take it with other minerals?+
Yes. Magnesium works well with calcium and vitamin D (it balances absorption). Avoid taking it at the same time as iron or zinc, it reduces their absorption.
What's the difference between bisglycinate and oxide?+
Oxide is the cheapest, but at ~4% absorption (Firoz & Graber, 2001) most of it passes through you or loosens the stomach. Bisglycinate absorbs far better and is gentle on the stomach.

Just the magnesium?

In the sachet the magnesium is bisglycinate. The shelf also carries a standalone magnesium — citrate form with vitamins B1, B6 and B12, one evening tablet. Another Bulgarian manufacturer makes it, we sell it.
